Incredibly informative. I had no idea I had missed so many works from theologians in the last decade or so. A treasure trove. THANKS!

I am 55, a grandfather and a lousy, non practicing Catholic. I am the victim of childhood and teenage physical and sexual abuse at the hands of nuns and two priests. I am in no position to preach to anyone about theology or anything else. But I must say, when I entered Catholic high school in September 66, a priest, Father Michael Garvin, told us all in his freshman year religion class something I have always held close. He said (I paraphrase):

I don't care what the nuns taught you. I don't care what you think you believe. I don't care how well you know the Catechism. This is the very center of Christian theology: show me how you behave and I will tell you Who your God is.

That one concept has been the guiding force of whatever theology I have had in my lifetime.

PS. Thank You Frank, I have printed out the theology article above for my further reflection and to share with others I know. The author mentions and I especially have enjoyed reading Sr. Elizabeth Johnson's theology writings since she was the key note speaker at my Catholic College 35th Reunion in New Rochelle, NY,

Yes, I think the article is revealing how fully Jesus Christ's life and death has the power to redeem everyone. Praising His example of human sacrifice and divine redemption encourages us all both to liberative incentives of loving acceptance and sharing with each other and to preventative actions against human forces that deny dignity, equality, peace and/or justice to other people. As true followers of Jesus Christ we accept and fully celebrate our natural global human diversity,

We recognize and respond to his global mission call to loving discipleship and caring ministry for all people, regardless of race, culture, nationality, gender, age, biological sexual indentity, or earthly possessions with a distinct preference for the sick, the poor. the aged and the innocent forsaken among us. We welcome each other with open arms and listen with open hearts and alert minds, joyfully sharing our common bond in faith of Christ's love for all people and the Ten Commandments. In the New Covenant, God says to have love for one another and be not afraid. That's how I want to live my faith to the best of my abilities.
Spiritualty, human religious practices and man-made organized religions ought to become more tolerant united global community forces for healing, peace and justice for all God's people, not a hinderance or national or religious mandate for greed, oppression, torture or denial of equal human rights.

Keep your faith, cherish your reason, treasure your mind and hold to your own good purpose
That's what I think, GBYAY Anne Breen
