Mr. Vinnie Nauheimer,
I applaud your noble efforts of creating awareness of this world epidemic established by an institution of faith that has failed its own principles. I am not a man of faith myself, I hold no religious belief I can call my own. I am, however, a firm believer that institutions of any nature, as well as individuals should conduct themselves transparently and non deceivingly., specially when they dictate rules of moral and judgement upon others.
I am grateful that people such as yourself dedicate time to expose wrong doings, my only regret, perhaps there isn't enough of you.
I will be sending an email to friends and contacts about your article.
Ever grateful,
                           Enrique López

I am 68 years old, born in 1940. I saw this transpire before my very eyes. This all began in France at the turn of the century; "freedom", "egalitarianism", "rationalism", and lest we forget "homosexuality gone rampant". Atheism at it's root. Then colleges opened up and we became "educated". The real eye opener was when Seminaries stopped teaching Theology, and replaced it with the social sciences which were all "experimental" variations of liberal lifestyles, including pedophilia. That is the name of what happened n in our Church, our Blessed Catholic Church. This happened to our Lord, because He is the Church.

All of these, such as Kinsey report, promulgated "homosexual" activity, stamped it OK and moved on. They left scores of reports which reading them today, with the laws we have on the books, should be and could classified as out and out pornography and a crime.

My anger is with those who knew it was sinful but did nothing.

I know this is a very late comment but this summer I have been away from my computer and just now catching up on reading saved e-mails that I was unable thoroughly peruse.
I do not understand this church I have been a member of for over 50 years. Bishops can call for violent protests against gay marriage, abortion and condemn pro choice politicians but they cannot bring themselves to excommunicate phedophiles. Worse yet, they protect them. Sadly this goes to the very top as stated in this article. What is a Catholic to believe?

Arrogance and lust for power is the name of all these criminals. The hierarchy, with names like Murphy, Egan, Burke, McCormick and Mahoney belong in prison. When will we stop funding their corrupt lifestyles? Do any of the following titles make you angry? How about pope, holy father, supreme pontiff, cardinal, archbishop, bishop, monsignor, very reverend, reverend, your excellancy, prelate his eminence, prince of the church, another Christ, right reverend, most reverend, high priest, reverend monsignor, your grace, archpriest? For me they have forfeited their right to be listened to.

Perhaps we can agree, that even the worst person has some goodness, some element of a reflection of God's face. We may know also that good and great people can sin, can do bad. Often, people can have many motives, some even in conflict. Our God will sort out the criminality from the saintliness, maybe in the same soul.

I say not that those who persist in this cover-up are evil. I do say that the cover-up is wrong, perhaps against the benefit of all doubt even a crime. It must be stopped, for the safety of children, and also even for the benefit of those who bear the strain of the secrets.

If anyone would cause or allow a little one to come to harm, out of some love of power or position, a millstone awaits. What horrible excommunication.

during a Mass or Liturgy and everyone says something like this; "I will not reveal your mysteries to your enemies"
are the mysteries the secrets of the holy office?

I do not know that is why I am asking.

That's why I left, Vinnie. I saw the complete "contradiction" and the criminality, despite the many "good" priests and nuns I also knew.

Thank you for a very interesting statement.

Dear Vinnie Nauheimer,
Many thanks for your well written document on the 'SECRECY' of the church about
clergy sex abuse of children. I fully agree that those who covered up this crime should be held accountable.
It puts people like Cardinal Law above the law to give him a plush job in Rome and
it reveals the corrupt thinking of church leaders.
Juxtapose the Pope and bishops' secrecy and coddling of pedophile priests and bishops, with their knee jerk reaction against the three women who were ordained priests in Boston yesterday. Beware of wolves in religious garments.
Gratefully,
John Sheehan

Thank you for making this article available to us, your readers. I, too, intend to post this on my web site...as soon as I hear from you that it's OK to do this. Please...advise.

Those that have chosen to remain silent when they've known who the pedophiles were...are just as guilty. They helped perpetuate the crime. The idea of moving the offender from one parish to another is beyond outrageous. What, plausible, excuse could there possibly be for this? NONE...NONE WHATSOEVER!

I'll eagerly await your response.
