Re: NEW PETITION to President Obama On Child Sex Abuse By Priests, Rabbis, and Religious Leaders
Dear Readers of Voice from the Desert:
See the link below for a new petition Jerry Slevin filed at Change.org. The petition is off to a good start.
The ongoing LA Archdiocesan revelations, Mea Maxima Culpa’s airing on HBO in English and Spanish internationally beginning next Monday, Feb. 4, the growing favorable attention the Australia abuse investigation commission is getting, etc., all indicate to Jerry it is time to increase the pressure on President Obama to step up. Please also consider viewing or taping Monday’s HBO airing of the award winning documentary, Mea Maxima Culpa. This documentary is not to be missed. A U.S. commission, in Jerry’s view, would do more to protect kids and help survivors than anything else he can think of. While it will be uphill, Jerry and I think it is well worth the little effort it takes. By exposing the hierarchy’s methods of operation, the commission we believe would also break the log-jam over many other reforms long overdue in the Catholic Church.
Now is the time to press President Obama to step up to protect children from sexual violence.
Thank you very much for your interest and support.

Thanks, Frank. The two jury convictions in Philly today are more indications people are finally standing up and saying enough. But more efforts are definitely needed, so let’s tell President Obama he needs to step up here. Jerry
