The Abuse of Adults by Catholic Clergy:

A Research Project

Kathryn Byrne

I am working on my Master of Pastoral Ministry through the University of Dallas, and I am researching the abuse of adults by Catholic clergy for my final Capstone Project. I would appreciate receiving personal written accounts of such abuse from primary and secondary victims/survivors. You may send your story under an assumed name and through an anonymous email if you so wish.

All names given will be changed for the project. In sharing your story, you give me permission to use part or all of it (with names
changed) at my discretion in my final paper. Though not all stories will be quoted, all will be of assistance to my research, and will be appreciated and respected. If you are comfortable with me using all or part of your story for future projects or publications (always with names changed), please indicate this when you send your story. I will not do so without your permission. Your privacy is of utmost importance.

I will be deleting the given names and email addresses of all participants from my computer. If you wish to receive further information concerning this project upon its completion, you may contact me in June or later at the email address below.

Stories are requested by Mar. 1, 2010. Please send to: CapstoneK@yahoo.com  Thank you in advance for your participation.

Don’t leave out the unknown percentage of adults who are unaware that they have been and are abused by the clergy, especially the women.

I don’t think one can have a priest in their life and NOT be abused.. as a child or adult..
The arrogant attitude, the delusions that “celibate” men “called” by god to lord over “Sheep” from their births to their bedrooms is a false premise to begin with.

Even the scriptures that quote christ as sayin “call no man father” “only your father in heaven” have been twisted and perverted by the catholic church and priesthood and hierarchy to give them permission to control the minds souls bodies and lives of people they can’t possibly love and care for.
I believe Christ wanted people to be empowerd by His teachings. To think for themselves and know their are consequences for abusing his little ones (child or adult).
Scriptures in the old and new testement, predict the end of the priesthood.. god himself will collect his people and there will be no man coming between them and god..

    Just some thoughts..

I agree with hadenough. One cannot have priests in his/her life and NOT be abused, not even adults. The constant superior attitude, the delusion that self proclaimed “celibate” men who are anything but celibate are going to direct the sexual affairs of the people is a joke. The delusion that they are “called” by God is also a fake. I listened to a new Canadian bishop on the radio, appointed to clean up in the aftermath of another pedophile protecting Bishop, and this idiot just kept repeating how he had no choice in the matter as he was “called”.

Jesus says plainly, “Call no man father”, but the church does not have a need to listen to the words of Jesus. Homosexual men run the so called divorce tribunals, what a joke.

Bishop Accountability discloses that the diocese of Toledo Ohio had 990 million dollars in their stock portfolio decades ago. In Washington, DC, the cardinals just finished effing GILDING the CEILING of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception to the everlasting memory of…. the bishops!!! Cry, suckers, it’s your money.

The Lord Jesus Christ spent all his energy working to teach the people to be empowered. The church leaders do all in their power to do the opposite—to turn the people into infants, unable to think or care for themselves. The groups such as Legionnaires and Opus Dei are worst, and once their followers have become blinded to their techniques, they simply walk around, pull their wallets out of the back pockets, and empty all the money into their own private coffers.

There is no financial control over the church. None. The wealth of the ages and the blood money of the poor, squandered on gay priests, priest sex tourism, pedophilia, and more.

There may be some erstwhile honest priest reading this, seething in rage. Take it out on your gay bishops, reverend, because ALL of the bishops either are gay themselves, or are covering for their brother bishops who they know to be gay. This includes all of them, not one is absent.

  4. Greg Bullough Says:

This is important work. Many orders and dioceses seem to feel that the moment a
young person turns 18, they have “consented” even if the offender has been grooming
him or her for years. It makes such an easy “out.”

These same dismissive individuals would call for the head on a platter of a physician or
psychologist who exploited a member of their congregation via the abuse of their
    position.

I am thankful that this information about my project was published on the Voice from the Desert website. It was very helpful.
As a result of the Capstone project, I have published a new book entitled, “The Abuse of Adults by Catholic Clergy and Religious,” which will be released in October. It contains true stories of adult abuse by clergy and religious, as well as thoughtful discussion on healing. For more information visit: http://www.OpenHeartLifeCoaching.com. Click on “Products.”
